Recently, there was a bug found in the latest version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which accounts for 70% of the web browser industry. On Wednesday, December 17th, Microsoft made a repair software, that can be accessed via the standard Windows Update systems that will help protect your Internet Explorer from dangerous infections. Users of Internet Explorer are encouraged to download the update as soon as possible, as there are approximately 10,000 websites describes as “in the wild” that exploit the user’s computer to viruses.

Microsoft typically releases “patch updates” only on every first Tuesday of the Month. However, since this is an emergency patch, it is important to download it ASAP if you use Internet Explorer versions 5.01, 6, 7 and 8 Beta 2.

Intel is trying to personalize the television. In efforts to accomplish this, they have made a creation in which a prototype device will combine the internet with the TV experience. Widgets will permit TV watchers to talk to friends in real time or buy products advertised on TV from online stores. Intel partnered up with Yahoo! to create the “Widget Channel” which is a hardware and software platforms that is able to combine them. I believe that this is definitely the beginning of a new innovation and an enhancement to their line of products.

In this article, Yahoo! announces that it will launch new features to its free email service to enhance their product. It will add features that are commonly use by social networking sites (e.g Facebook, Myspace, etc). Some of these features include: creating social interactive communities with the help of their email (based on friends and interests), sort emails of friends/family separately, it will allow you to add third party applications to the emails, and it will scoop up buried pictures from old emails. With this new look, Yahoo! is trying to appeal to a new set of consumers. They are trying to reach to the people who do not engage into social networking sites, but have tons of memories (pictures) in their emails. Furthermore, they are pursuing the idea of interactivity between their users. With all of these cool new changes Yahoo! is obviously trying to become the most popular launching site.

A news article in yahoo! announced that people that use all current versions of Microsoft Corp.’s Internet Explorer browser could be vulnerable to having their computers hijacked. This is due to a serious security hole in the software that had yet to be fixed Monday. According to the column there are about 10,000 sites have been compromised since last week to exploit the browser flaw. The sites are serving up programs to steal passwords for computer games, which can be sold for money on the black market. Most of the sites are from China. Security experts urge users to use another browser until a patch is released. i believe that this is definitely scary due high rate of identity theft, and the fact that most people have tons of important information in their PC/laptops.
