In this article, Yahoo! announces that it will launch new features to its free email service to enhance their product. It will add features that are commonly use by social networking sites (e.g Facebook, Myspace, etc). Some of these features include: creating social interactive communities with the help of their email (based on friends and interests), sort emails of friends/family separately, it will allow you to add third party applications to the emails, and it will scoop up buried pictures from old emails. With this new look, Yahoo! is trying to appeal to a new set of consumers. They are trying to reach to the people who do not engage into social networking sites, but have tons of memories (pictures) in their emails. Furthermore, they are pursuing the idea of interactivity between their users. With all of these cool new changes Yahoo! is obviously trying to become the most popular launching site.

New York Times article on page A22 on the December 12,2008 stating that California is tying to create a program to make it easier for immigrants and the poor to open up bank accounts instead of keeping all of their money in cash. They would provide the public with free training on the new program and give them low/no fees. This would greatly affect the community and is an interesting article.

Alot of people in emerging markets are accesing the internet through their cell phones because many of these poor areasa dont have phone lines for dial up or even cable for broadband. It is also cheaper to use their cellphones becuase if they already have a phone then they dont need to spend extra money on computers or internet, being that they dont have alot of money this works out perfectly for them. “Wireless-network operators and handset manufacturers like Nokia Corp., the world’s largest by sales, have long viewed emerging nations as crucial for growth. Now, the evolving use of phones for data transfer — not just calls — means mobile-technology firms can increase revenues per subscriber, which are much lower than in the developed world, analysts say”
