New York Times article on page A41 on the December 12,2008 that talks about how new studies show that when the Government shows advertisements about smoking and how its bad, it entices smokers craving even more. The research comes as a surprise to many who would think that anti-smoke advertisements would have an effect on keeping smokers away from reaching into their pocket to get another cigarette but these new studies bring up a valid point.

New York Times article on page A40 on the December 12,2008 that talks about how teacher programs arent always as good as its cracked up to be. They are looking at Louisiana’s accountability-based reform efforts to fix the issue and let other nations follow their example. I feel as though this article stronly related to the community seeing how teachers effect almost every citizen int he United States.

PLan to help poor and immigrants open and maintain bank accounts

New York Times article on page A22 on the December 12,2008 stating that California is tying to create a program to make it easier for immigrants and the poor to open up bank accounts instead of keeping all of their money in cash. They would provide the public with free training on the new program and give them low/no fees. This would greatly affect the community and is an interesting article.
