Chapter 9

Customer service is a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction – that is, the feeling that a product or service has met the customer expectation. Customer service may be provided by a person, or by automated means called self-service.

Anticipatory customer service: companies must anticipate potential problem areas before they become troublesome, develop situations, and provide service that exceeds customer expectations (FAQ).
