“YouTube changing format, pushes widescreen HD video”

Google, that now owns YouTube, is trying to strengthen their brand against competitors (such as Hulu) through differentiation.  It has recently adopted High Definition for a selection of their videos.  Now, videos can be viewed at a much clearer quality.  The tradeoff, however, is that the HD videos require stronger brandwith.  Only the connections with the strongest brandwith will be able to enjoy clearer pictures at a fast speed.  Of course, the customer has the option to view the HD quality videos or not, by clicking on a button the right side of the screen.  Additionally, Google is trying to strengthen the YouTube brand by avoiding any copyright infringements.  They are screening videos to make sure they don’t violate any copyright clauses.  They are also adding links to Apple.com and Amazon.com.
