Chapter 7- In class we watched a video about search.  There is organice and paid search.  Organic uses keywords to get ranked.  The keywords are from the title and on the page context and attracting links.  Organic search is PR/ask a question.  Paid search is advertising that you can pop-up differently to different people according to their cookies/browser. A query is what language is it in/how many words.  Google combines 2 lists, or 3 lists together. Spiders  are automated programs that search the web for information.  Paid search is a ranking process, query for words produced and spit out, ads with highest bid 1st (high click through) keywords shown for., put ads into datavase, highest bid profitable to your business.

organic search process-different search engines and indexes, download.com techonology, keywords and landing pages, what country are you in .com, .ru, ,uk, avoid (broad keywords Hot, avoid cold-avoild your name  if its too long.

A landing page-someone lands on a page.

Permission marketing is how much unsolicited mail (spam) can you send.  Responsible marketers to do not send spam because it causes annoyance to people if they did not opt-in to receive emails.  Marketers must get permission from the customer or future customer before sending out e-mails (so they are not considered spammers). First of, opt-out is email addresses are gathered when users are registering by already checking an email option box, but the user has to uncheck the checked box to stop the email, if they don’t uncheck the box they will start getting spammed.  But under CAN-span law there must a clear option to unsubscribe to the emails if the user wants to do that. The Opt-in is when the user checks the box for getting emails on their own, and a double opt-in sends them an email confirmation asking them if they really want that.

I believe it is important to ask the customer if they want to get emails, and to have their own opt-in choice instead of overlooking that box and getting unwanted emails.  It is harder to find the place where to unsubscribe unless each individual email says you can unsubscribe anytime just click this.

I only get emails from websites or stores i bought stuff from where i wrote my email address to recieve information.  I dont remember if there was an opt-out box that i forgot to uncheck but for the most part i don’t get annoyances on my mail email address.  I open the emails that have head lines like n% coupon, preorder some new book, some type of offer from the websites i use often.  for the most part i open the email just to see whats new if there is anything i want to look at, sometimes i go shop or look for tickets resulting from the search but unless its a book i usually don’t buy online because of extra shipping charges.
