Here are several cartoonists’ depictions on the state of welfare programs, social security, etc…The illustrations provide a different perspective of welfare. Feel free to express your thought on how you interpret the illustrations.

Cartoon 2(Note: The small boat says “social programs”.)

Cartoon 3 (Note: As of 2007, there was a flood of baby boomers who took [...]

WE CAN’T WIN EITHER WAY

I never actually read the magazines that come to my house,  but once I saw the cover of Newsweek magazine and Sarah Palin with the caption “She’s one of the Folks” (And that’s the problem) I was tempted to read, but don’t worry, I’m going to enlighten you guys about another major issue in the [...]

DR. Ron Paul message about Welfare State

The Financial Crisis and how it will affect the welfare to work policy

The Financial Crisis and how it will affect the welfare to work policy
I read this article and thought it was interesting. A policy call the welfare to work policy was enacted to keep the labor market active when a recession is threating. What it does is trampoline does unempolyed people back to work and not just [...]

Cheating Welfare

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/26/nyregion/26fraud.html?scp=6&sq=welfare&st=cse
I read this article and I found it to be interesting.  What interests me the most is how people could get away with this for such a long time.  I mean how can they be making so much money and when they applied for welfare and food stapms the authority didn’t even check that they [...]

Having Barack Obama as president…

I recently heard an amazing observation about this presidential race that I wanted to share. I know our nation has deeply rooted racial biases that most of the time, are hidden from plain sight. The notion that there is a political science term called the “Bradley Effect”, which essentially says that for a black man/woman [...]

Let them Eat Bailout

Just recently the American citizens were given a very bitter financial pill to swallow. To make it go down abit better I heard alot of sweetners were  added like caps on manager salaries and the like. It kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and I used to be given code liver [...]

Pleeease watch this film…CRITICAL CONDITION

Critical Condition is a  short film that tells the story of 4 ordinary, hard-working Americans and their experience with Healthcare in the United States.  By the end of the film I found myself crying and was disgusted to see how being uninsured cost some of them their jobs, health, homes, savings, and even their lives.

  • Stop the madness now! November 20, 2009
By Edward Harrison of Credit Writedowns. A reader at Naked Capitalism asked us to respond to a recent article from the Christian Science Monitor asking Does US need a second stimulus to create jobs? Marshall Auerback has already done some heavy lifting – and taken all of the heat in the comments. He says emphatically yes. Now [...] […]
  • Dodd: Bernanke Confirmation “Not Necessarily” a Foregone Conclusion November 20, 2009
This clip is from an interview with blogger Mike Stark. Apologies for the poor sound quality. While Dodd indicates that he is “inclined to be supportive” of Bernanke, he is surprisingly cautious about making a broader statement, a sign of a shift in sentiment. […]

By Edward Harrison of Credit Writedowns. Yves is stuffed again today, so I am going to post at least once or twice. Hopefully, we will also see something from Jesse or George as well. This is a post I wrote overnight about rising delinquencies and shadow housing inventory. I am not convinced house prices [...] […]
