This page contains information about required materials for MGT 9702, Service Operations Management 1. Three items are required.
Required Item 1:* Operations Management: Processes and Supply Chains, 10th edition, by Krajewski, Ritzman & Malhotra, Pearson/Prentice Hall, 2012. We worked with the publisher to create an abridged edition for Baruch College (containing chapters 1-5, 7-10, 12, 13, 15, and Supplement B) at a reduced price, both as a paper book, and as an eBook.
- Option 1: Paperback custom edition, ISBN 1269084992. (Not yet available in bookstore as of 1-Feb-2013 9 AM; expected by Monday or Tuesday, Feb 4 or 5). Perhaps someday available at Shakespeare and Co.
- Option 2: eBook, ISBN 1269194216, available for download here. The eBook is not compatible with all e-readers.
- Option 3: Other non-Baruch versions of the 10th edition are fine too.
Whatever option you choose, you do not need MyOMLab nor a MyOMLab access code.
Required Item 2: The Goal by E. Goldratt, North River Press, 2012. You may buy or rent either the 2012 and 2004 edition from the bookstore. The 25th Anniversary revised edition (2012; ISBN 978-0884271956), 3rd revised edition (2004, ISBN 978-0884271789), and 2nd revised edition (1992, ISBN 978-0884270614) are all fine. Avoid the 1984 and 1986 editions. Also consider the audio-book version, which I understand is quite good. There’s a Kindle edition too.
Required Item 3: An access code to the Littlefield Labs computer simulation, $18. Details, including the URL to purchase the access code, will be posted on the course Blackboard site shortly after the semester begins.
