This is a poster from 1942. It was taken from the United States Office of War Information agency. It is entitled The United Nations fight for freedom. This poster is intended to showcase all those participating in the United Nations and how they are fighting for freedom around the world in the war. I feel like the message of the poster is that it’s trying to justify the war by saying that they are defending freedom worldwide. The artist used the Statue of Liberty as a symbol of our freedom which our country was founded on, and the freedom that we need to defend.

This poster portrays how Americans want to help spread freedom around the world and the message behind it is even stronger by including the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty continues to become the iconic symbol of freedom to this day. A little more than half the countries listed in the poster are part of an oppressing force and it is time again for Americans to police those so-called tyrannies.
I think this poster isn’t that effective in portraying WWII as a war worth fighting for because it doesn’t really show that we’re in a war. It just shows that we are part of the United Nations and we stand for freedom. You can’t really tell that there is a war going on. I think this document is fair in it’s treatment of its subjects because it shows that all those flags represent freedom by the Statue of Liberty.
This poster shows the union of countries around the world with the statue of liberty as the main focus. This demonstrates the idea that American involvement in world affairs is important. In addition this shows the importance of all countries getting together to be in the United Nations. The portrayal of this poster is effective because it wants to spread the idea of freedom throughout the people of the world.
