This video is all about New York City speakeasies in the 1920s. Speakeasies allowed people to get the alcohol they desired during prohibition. Owners of these speakeasies bribed police and other public officials to ensure that they could continue their illegal operation without getting shut down. These speakeasies provided entertainment to all different kinds of people. Speakeasies were a defining topic of the 1920s.

A) In my opinion the video does an excellent job of covering the historical change. Speakeasies were a hallmark of the 1920s and the famous speakeasies depicted stood as a testament to the opposition to Prohibition. These speakeasies were also places of communal gathering and massive spots of cultural diffusion. The entertainment industry boomed during the Jazz age and speakeasies were a major component of that. In a sense it was a common link between the working class in the major cities. Furthermore, speakeasies were an example of how a federal law empowered organized crime. Making alcohol illegal was what enabled gangsters to take control of cities by controlling the supply of liquor. The corruption tied to speakeasies was massive.
B) Sources that could be used to verify the content shown in the video are: people who have lived during prohibition, actual documentation and camera footage of former speakeasies, and documentaries by PBS and the History channel as to the role of speakeasies in the 1920s.
I think this video is very effective in capturing the essence of the speakeasies. They told facts, pictures, documents and stories. You can confirm the facts that the video stated are to research prohibition and actually go to the speakeasy that is displayed today.
i think this video was very good job in showing what a speakeasy is. this clip provided alot of information in which i think was very creditable. the creditability of the information in this short clip shows sources in where they got the information from. all the sources they used make this clip very reliable and truthful.
