Green IT Awareness Week

Green IT  is the study and practice of designing, manufacturing, and using computers, servers, monitors, printers, storage devices, and networking and communications systems efficiently and effectively with zero or minimal impact on the environment. It includes the economics of energy efficiency, the dimensions of environmental sustainability,  and the total cost of ownership, which includes the cost of disposal and recycling.

By becoming green, IT can play significant roles in creating a more sustainable environment in a number of ways. Thus, Green IT includes hardware, software, tools, strategies, and practices that help improve and foster efficiency and environmental sustainability. To support Green IT, raise awareness, and increase total global adoption, the International Green IT Awareness Week  is celebrated around the globe on June 1-7, including face-to-face meeting, interviews, virtual seminars and network events. The intimate purpose of the Green IT campaign is to raise awareness and foster discussion on reducing the impact of IT on the environment, and Green IT can be used to achieve environmental sustainability and efficiency.
