IE9 Is The Most Energy-Efficient Browsers For Laptops

by Man Pan

According to the latest study conducted by Microsoft, Microsoft found that Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) is the most energy-efficient browsers available. IE9 was put to the test against other major browsers such as Chrome10, Firefox 4, Opera 11, and Safari 5 on an Intel laptop. They tested to see which browser consumed the least amount of the laptop’s battery while the browser is idle, displaying a news site, and running a site that is graphics-intensive. IE9 came out to be the most energy efficient.

I know many people would think that since Microsoft conducted this test, they probably choose the laptop that is best for IE9 and the CNet article did mention other factors that can affect the results such as the operating system. But I think one of the main reasons why Microsoft conducted this test is to promote their just released IE9.
