My first semester at Baruch has been going smoothly. It’s been a lot of work, but it didn’t come as a surprise because after all, it is college. I commute to school, but I really don’t mind because it’s only one train for about 40 minutes. I love the city and the atmosphere and I love Baruch’s location. It’s close to everything and I usually find myself walking around during my breaks. Of course I do still wish Baruch had more of a campus, but at least it’s located in such an awesome city. The library has also been a place I’ve been visiting because I usually do work, print out things or just lounge around if I have nothing else to do.
I really enjoy the fact that college is so different from high school. I don’t have the same classes everyday and that’s really great because I found that so annoying. Also, I think you are able to relax a bit more. Sure we get more work, but it’s not like it’s from the same class daily. I feel I’m more independent because there are no teachers or guidance counselors to tell you what to do with your life. Instead, it’s something I have to do by myself. I don’t mind going to school because it’s not boring and tedious like high school was. There are people and places to see and again, I love Baruch’s location.
I think I’ve changed since entering Baruch because I’m always busy. I’m at school most of the day and if not, I usually hang out in the city. I find it strange now to be at home because I’m not used to it anymore. I feel like an adult because of this and it’s something refreshing. Although, of course, there are times when I just want to relax and enjoy being at home. I’m doing well in all my courses and I only hope that this will continue for the rest of my time at Baruch. I also hope to meet more people who are outgoing and up for a good time.
