So a long time ago I went to this seminar with Patrick. It was some thing where we had to get this paper hole punched 10 times and 10 different stations.
We went late so there we not many people left. The first stall we went to was nice enough to punch out about 7 holes for both of us! In the end the lady signing books didn’t even count the number of holes we had. Patrick and I kept seeing hole punchers left unattended but we’re too nice to just pick them up and start punching holes. ;D

Good luck registering for classes !
Remember to have alternatives.. and keep checking what sections are open (perhaps every hour because they will fill up quickly). Remember to leave 25 minute gaps in between your classes and also make sure the class you’re registering for has pre-requisites that you have already completed !

On November 19th, I located the Love is Blind workshop in the NVC 5-180 room from 12:30-2. I decided to attend this workshop because it was highly publicized so I figured there would be a big turnout. The workshop itself was interesting, people shared their stories from the past or their current situations regarding their relationships. Some of the stories shocked me; some people had parents that still forced them to marry someone from their same religion and ethnicity. It just proves that although we may believe that all prejudice is gone, it does exist within society. Attending this meeting was also interesting because I had recognized some people from high school and others from elementary school, this reminded me what a small world it is.

On September 17th, I attended the freshmen reception in the NVC 5-215 room. However, it wasn’t really beneficial. There was a swarm of students all flocking to the room and they weren’t expecting so many students so we were unable to actually have everyone participate in the reception. People went to the room and got their signatures and left because it was so overcrowded. I tried to stay as much as possible but it was very difficult to get something out of the workshop.

On October 15th, I attended a Pre-Law Application Help workshop. It took place in VC8-150 from 12:30-2. There, I learned a variety of ways to improve an application to make it stand out. I also learned how to actually go through the process of applying to law school. This workshop definitely will help me in the future when going through admissions (although it seems like a scary process)

For my Academic Enrichment, I attended the school’s club fair on September 24 in the gym located in the B2 level. I found the experience very interesting. I also was surprised by the immense quantity of clubs available at Baruch, they had a club for almost EVERYTHING. I joined the Pre-Law Society. I was intrigued by the club, especially because I am planning on attending law school after undergraduate school. I’m really happy with the club and I believe it will be extremely beneficial for my law school applications that will be done in the future.

For my Community-Global Awareness requirement, I volunteered by teaching tennis. I volunteered at the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills. There, I taught some of the children in our junior program some of the basics in tennis. It was a great experience. Although I have done this before, I usually do it as a job, not for volunteering. It felt great to help the children.
In other to complete my requirement, I also bought canned foods to donate to the food drive.
If you’re interested in taking a look at the club, here’s a link:

I went to this one a while back. It was kinda rushed ,but I found the workshop really informative. The major focus of the workshop was to inform students on how to delcare their majors and minors. The instructor aslo went over how to compute your grade point average. So now I know I need to work hard at getting a least a GPA of 2.25 in my classes to get into the Zicklin School of Businesss.
ps Ana and Veralyn sorry for not blogging.

Yesterday, November 17th, I went to a workshop for art. It was over in the old building on the 22nd street side. It was an art exhibit. We had to wait in a line, because only 25 people were allowed in at one time. The wait was kinda long. After getting inside we were led around the room as the lady in charge talked about the paintings. It was all one exhibit from the same painter. I forget her name, but it had art all the way from since she was nine, until her recent paintings. It was a tad boring. I would have preferred being able to walk around and look at all the art myself. But I guess in order for everyone to be able to complete the workshop, that strategy was needed. Anyway, that was my last workshop, and thank god that’s over with. =]
