On Oct. 29 2009 I attended the Basic Interview Skills workshop. The workshop was held by the Star Career Development center. The workshop was very informative on how to present yourself in an interview. It also gave many tips that I previously wasn’t aware of on how to land a job. The slide show as well was very useful.
A Doll’s House
On Nov. 5 2009 I attended a play called A Doll’s House. It was from 1pm-2:20pm. I had never been to the performing arts center and it was a challenge finding out where it was. Once I found it the play had already started but I picked up on the plot quickly. The actors were very good. The play was about a husband who treated his wife like a trophy wife and by the end of the play she left him. Even though it was old play the themes could relate to everyday life. I enjoyed watching this play.

Your Life, Your Money/Personal Enrichment
On Nov. 11 2009 I attended the Your Life Your Money Workshop. It was a late workshop and it was held between 6-8pm. When I first signed in they gave me a USB drive and a raffle ticket. They started out the workshop with an hour long presentation that showed Students dealing with their finances. Then later on some of the stars from the presentation came and did a conference with the audience. In the end there was a chance to win gift cards from Barnes and Nobles unfortunately I didn’t win.

Once i founded the building they divided us into groups and it was a very short tour and last roughly 10 minutes. I thought the artwork was very interesting and the guide was very informative and she knew what she was talking about. It was the first time I had been to an art tour.

Values, Pressure and Choosing a Major
I attended a workshop called Values, Pressure, and Choosing a Major. It was on November 9th on the 3rd floor in room 185. The whole workshop lasted from 3:00-4:00pm. This workshop was good. There were two presenters. I liked how they were very clear in explaining things. I also liked there presentation. Everyone was able to think about their careers more looking through different perspectives. From this workshop I was able to somewhat see what I want to do with my life.

Stress and Anxiety Introduction
This workshop taught us method one can use to relieve the stress and anxiety that comes with college. First, it taught us method on how to express our self in the right way and ways to help get out of tense situations. How to tell another person what you want and not have to explain it in a self destructive manner. Then, the workshop taught us a process to relax muscles in your body though breathing and muscle contraction techniques. This workshop was very helpful because college and just life itself can be very stressful. So I enjoy my new found knowledge, but I do not have to use it too much. However, there was a part of the exercise where you had to eat a rinse i just hope next time it can be a candy bar.

Student Services Fair
On October 13 I attended an Academic Enrichment workshop called “Student Services Fair” which was held in the multipurpose room(1-107). Early on this wrokshop was sort of empty but 30minutes after it started, the room was packed. There were tables set up for different services Baruch provides you with. Aside from giving you free stuff and a pamphlet of what their services provide Baruch students with, you could ask them about any questions or concerns you have. This workshop was very helpful to me becuase it helped me understand what services are in Baruch and what they can help me with.
