Also the sense of community is also valuable. Like you say, respect being shown for cultures, for the people from diverse backgrounds. It is a big network that Baruch has been providing us.

You are right. Getting education from Baruch is the top value for us. We spent our time to study hard, do the papers, prepare for exam. All those works lead us to our achievement.
Synergy has been displaying when we have group projects. I think it is a wonderful result of teamwork. Here is a quote I would like to use, “alone we can do so little; together we can do so much (from Helen Keller).”

I agree with you that education is the most important core value. Like you say, we won’t gather at Baruch if there is not for education. Education paves our way to success.
Teamwork is really tough. Inside of a team, we have many different dynamic. In order to display our dynamic fully, we have to balance our strength. We must to cooperate. More important, we learn from each other, we help each other.

I too think education is a strong core value among Baruch students. I also agree with you about the importance of networking. I’ve never network so much in my life until I came to Baruch. Networking is very important as it helps us connect with different people and help build relationships that can be beneficial to us in the future

I also think education is a very important core value with Baruch students. Here at Baruch we take our education seriously and strive for the best. I think you made some good points about sense of community and culture. I take great pride in the diversity of our school and being able to meet so many different people from different cultures.

I do agree with you that the team work which is pushed in most classes help prepare us for the work environment. There we will most likely work in groups or departments to achieve targeted results. Geting prepared for enviroments where one might be faced with diverse backgrounds, culture, clicks, and a host of overwhelming situations is a good lesson that groups here at Baruch make you experience first hand. I have worked in Corporate America, and believe me you can meet unusual situations in work spaces. The staff at Baruch all know this so they prepare us academically and do not sugar coat the truths of the outside word.

I believe the overall core values of the students at Baruch is work hard and achieve your goals. I have been to three colleges throughout my lifetime, Rutgers & Kingsborough Community College as well, and I find that Baruch students try the hardest, to achieve the results that they want. Many of the students work many hours a week, while attending school full time. Ever since I transferred to Baruch, I have been working in the day and taking classes in the evening. This allowed me to gain knowledge both in school and from work. I think Baruch students have great work ethic and the ability to succeed. I was very impressed when I spoke to a lot of my classmates who already have started their own business venture. I think a lot of the Baruch students are going to start their own business and build it to become a successful company. Through the knowledge, work ethic, and eagerness to succeed, I think Baruch students have a greater chance at achieving their desired goals.

Richard I definitely can say most people wants a six figure job but as you say a person must follow through with its core ideologies and purpose because thats is who they are and a path to where the want/need to get to. That is why it is important to students at Baruch. Although being diverse students have come to hold simliar values and with the school implementing these values (through classes, group projects , experience) it definitely prepare us for the next step in our career.

Bistra I love the idea you brought up of the “melting pot”. Living in NYC, yet alone attending baruch college, where there is a great mixture of different cultures, separate values and as time progress all come together to share similar values. When you come into a competitive environment you are force to become competitive. Its just like in the city, everyone is always in a rush and even if your are not in one, you would find yourself moving just like the person next to you. Students at Baruch “melts” into the values of competition, hard work, team work etc which is very important in school as well as our professional careers.
