Darren,
I find your journal entry very touching. You are absolutely right, the Honors Program offers us so much. I think I myself take that for granted sometimes. I love how you describe volunteering as going outside our comfort zones. You are right because many times the people you encounter while volunteering are in unfortunate circumstances and therefore, we feel uncomfortable. Many people use this as an excuse not to volunteer. Great job!

Darren,
I hope that you succeed in becoming ambidextrous. I know how hard it is to maintain several friendships with people from different schools. I have found that many of my friends from high school are busy during the semester and so I try to see my friends from Baruch. Whenever a break comes or we all have a free weekend I see them and our bond remains strong. True friends will never leave your side. I encourage you to try and make a few friends at the college because it's nice to have company sometimes.

I understand your struggle with time-management. I, too, work. My advice to you is to use your breaks widely. Sometimes you may have to sacrifice a Friday or/and Saturday night to do homework or miss watching your show and HULU or youtube it when you have the time. Come to me if you want help managing your time because I remember how hard it was for me to adjust last year as well.

Finally, I am proud that you were honest with punching out. Sometimes I wonder if they are any honest people left in this world. Don't lose this because it will set you apart from many others when you enter the business world.
