Today’s class has some discussions about the “history” of Internet and Internet Marketing.
There are two important terms: “Information product” and “Information-rich product.” Information product means information is the product. Information-rich product is the information that comes with or as an addition to the product.
Moore’s Law suggests that computing power doubles and cut cost in half, while Metcalfe’s Law suggests the idea of power of network increases geometrically with each new connection.
I think the most interesting thing that I learned today is the four important concepts are customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and value growth, which we will discuss more later throughout the course.

So, day one started with course overview of internet marketing. We had class discussions such as “Is Google making us stupid?” and “Are we reading more, but becoming less well informed?”
As it was said in class, I think Google makes us read more but short and quick. We become readers that want fast information without looking things through completely, such as when we are searching with search engine. Therefore, perhaps we are reading more, but becoming less well informed. However, I don’t think Google is making us stupid. The fact is we have become active information seekers instead of not knowing.
After looking through the syllabus, I’m especially excited to learn about creating and maintaing a good website — the 7Cs.
