The Honors Student Council (HSC) serves students in the Honors Program and the Program itself by providing an opportunity to discuss ideas and experiences about the Honors Program at Baruch as well as recommend actions. The HSC is responsible for offering a student perspective on the program and its policies, planning and producing special events, developing new initiatives, and advancing student interests by communicating regularly with the Honors Program Director and Staff.
Composition of the Council
Each March, all Honors students in good standing may apply to be a member of the HSC. Applications will be reviewed by the Honors Program Staff and the Executive Committee. Decisions will be announced in April, and the Council should plan to meet immediately thereafter. Terms run for one year and begin May 1st. There is no limit on the number of members.
From within the main Council, an Executive Committee will be elected by HSC members. The Executive Committee must include a President, Vice President, and Secretary. Other offices may be created at the discretion of the Council. The Executive Committee will be responsible for scheduling and convening meetings (at least once each semester), taking attendance, setting the agenda, communicating with members, and meeting with the Honors Program Director. At the end of each year, the Executive Committee will examine the membership rolls and recommend dismissing those students who have not attended meetings or reappointment for those who have reapplied. In addition, the Executive Committee will review new applications for membership in concert with the Honors Program Staff. Final decisions on membership rest with the Honors Program Director.
